Senior Drill & Blast Engineer | Mining Careers at KCC, DRC
Kamoto Copper Company SA is hiring
Under the Supervision of the Mine Technical Services Manager ,the responsabilities of the Senior Drill & Blast Engineer will be :
· Manage and mitigate related risks.
· Lead H&S and environmental compliance and participating in incident investigations involving explosive usage.
· Provide drill and blast engineering services, including energy calculations, blast hole pattern, charging and initiation design.
· Coordinate with internal resources (mine planning, geology, production, drill supervisor) to schedule and execute drilling activities in a safe and efficient manner.
· Monitor drill and blast production data and taking appropriate action to maintain targets.
· Consult with the site geological/geotechnical engineer and third party consultants to manage and optimize pit wall stability.
· Liaise with the geotech and geology department to ensure that drill and blast parameters take into account pit wall stability concerns and bench compliance requirements.
· Liaise with the metallurgy and processing team on the mine to mill forums to ensure that the drill and blast parameters produce minimum dilution and enable a proper crusher and mill performance.
· Manage and enhance vendor relationships (contractors, consultants, suppliers).
· Investigate and introduce new innovations to improve drilling and blasting performance.
· Supervise the Drill & Blast Engineer and/or mentoring planning and geological/geotechnical engineers.
Minimum Qualifications :
· A degree qualification in Mining Engineering with considerable drilling and blasting operations experience in a production environment.
· A minimum of 10 years of experience in planning and operative roles in open pit mining.
· Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments.
· Track record of implementing continuous improvement projects.
· Effective report writing and communication skills (in French or English).
